With the handsfree driving laws that now exist almost everywhere I thought I would offer some Bluetooth tips to all you users out there (especially my mom).

1. Pairing your Bluetooth

The password you enter on your phone is always 4 zeros (unless you or someone has changed it)!

2. Slight Answer Delay

Count 1-2 before saying hello?

*Don’t be like my sister and say hello once, then yell it a second time, the caller didn’t hear your first hello, just you yelling.

3. Don’t YELL!

Your headset or speakerphone is designed to pick up your usual speaking volume. Yes, if you usually sound like a church mouse, speak up; but for the rest of you, tone it down.

4. Turn off the Radio

Most headsets have background noise cancelling. Hate to break it to you, but your radio is in front of you.

5. Close your Window

Do you want your clients to know you’re on the way to the golf course, arm out the window? If so, feel free to leave it open…

6. Check out my Bluetooth Bling… Not!

Don’t treat your Bluetooth like an accessory and wear it if you don’t need to (in the car is OK, we don’t want you to get a ticket) . In public just walking around… you’re pushin it.

7. Don’t Make Eye Contact

If you do feel the need to wear your headset in public, because you are in a sling, have one arm or your hands full, don’t look at other people while you’re on a call! They will think you’re talking to them.

*Feel free to break above rule if you are just messing with someone’s mind

8. Be Windsmart

If it’s too windy to use your cellphone, it’s probably too windy for your headset.

*Plantronics windsmart technology can help.

9. If it’s not Working

Just like your computer needs a reboot, so may your headset. Delete the device out of your phone menu and re-pair it.

*Your headset may have specific headset instructions in the user guide

10. Don’t Assume it’s Junk

Unless you know you bought junk, don’t assume your headset is when it’s not working properly. There may be a few adjustments that can be made probably on the headset itself and your phone settings.

*Read your manual, call the manufacturer tech support or go to your phone provider.

Yes, Disney’s movie Bambi has just been re-released on DVD and Blu Ray but that is not the reason for my twitterpation.

I just started actively using Twitter today and had a great experience. For anyone trying to decide if you should start tweeting, I have to say why not?

The more I learn about Twitter the more it proves to be a valuable tool, both profesionally and personally. It’s a great way to get information about hot topics like marketing and social media and you can follow tweets that are specific to your industry.

I found this great webinar called How to Use Twitter for Marketing and PR, it really helped me understand the advantages of using Twitter for your business.

For all of us who like to attend traditional networking functions, Twitter is just building your online network where you can share info and get tips from other business people like yourself.

So, why not give it a twirl?
